Supporting Families to Get Ahead

The Labor government is supporting growing families in Victoria, with funding to combat the cost of childcare and schooling.

The Victorian government continues to expand its free Kinder program, saving families up to $2,700 per child each year.

By reducing the cost of early childhood education, we are supporting our youngest learners to get the best start in life, while helping women return to the work.

This is on top of investments to help families with school-aged children, including $14 million for free School Breakfast Clubs,  saving families $93 on average through our Affordable School Uniforms program, 55,000 more Get Active Kids vouchers, and an expansion of the Glasses for Kids program to more schools – delivering free eye tests and free glasses to kids who need them.

Labor understands that families across Victoria are feeling the pressure of rising household costs, which is why the 2026/26 Budget delivers targeted relief to help make everyday life more affordable.
