Progress continues at Hampton East social housing site

In April, I joined the Minister for Housing, Harriet Shing, at the social housing site at Hampton East, where the Victorian government is building 285 homes, for a 16% increase in social housing on the site.

The new homes are replacing old dwellings that were built in the 1950s and no longer meet current design standards.

April marked the structural completion of the first building on the site, as work continues at pace to deliver the social homes our city and state needs.

I also recently joined the kids from Moorabbin Primary School at the site, who had great fun in naming the new tower cranes. I can confirm that Big Joe, Lifto-saurus Rex and Larry The Lifter are all doing sterling jobs!

The Victorian government has an ambitious plan for social housing in this state, providing homes for those who need it.

In the City of Bayside alone, more than $380 million has been invested through the Big Housing Build and other social housing programs to build more than 1,000 new homes, with 645 already completed.
